Documentation is as important as the rest of the code, so if something is unclear, missing or just plain wrong, please tell it.

fAQ item on renaming the admin area

Postby roel » Sun Apr 16, 2006 4:30 pm

Hey guys, I just finished a FAQ item on how you can rename the default nucleus/ admin area url to something like admin/

http://faq.nucleuscms.org/item/47

Please report any inaccuracies!

/admin may not be a good url for some servers.

For example, Ensim server's site admin can be reach by http://www.site.com/admin

Hence, renaming the nucleus admin folder to /admin may cause some conflict. Correct me if I am wrong.

Perhaps /administration or /nc-admin or /administrator will be better for some users :)

Good point. Maybe it could be adm/ or manage/ ?

I think just a warning will do.

You should blame them. This is a *terrible* idea. No panel should take for itself a so commonly used directory. :?

Btw, I have been using /adm since ever. It's a nice tutorial, roel. :D

Then we'll have to update the FAQ for the next version of Nucleus. :)

do it at instalation

I do it always before clean instalation: I open the instal.sql file, click ctrl+h and replace all nucleus/ to admin/ and then rename nucleus folder to admin. Few seconds and it works perfectly.
