Should I bother Coding or Submitting?

Postby cldnails » Thu Feb 16, 2006 6:00 am

This is the general format and look I was considering going with. The actual text of the items would not be stretched, as it is here because of PS and filling in the space where I wanted the content to be.

Please let me know if you think it is worth coding, or tweaking to be submitted. Any and all input is greatly appreciated.

I have yet to code it, so I see no reason why the repeat couldn't be added to accomodate the more content.

I wouldn't want to code it myself, looks very difficult. But if you can do it please try! Good luck!

The skin is nice. It breaks free from traditional box design concept for blogs.

Personally, I feel that certain elements (like the header block and slogan) needs minimal adjustments to the position when coded into a skin.

are you going to slice the image in photoshop during the conversion to webpage ready format?

Other wise, it is a good one! Keep up the good work! :)

i previously used an image based design for my blog, and quickly changed back to using simpler methods of designing my pages without using images...

you should look in to a method of loading the design using as few images as possible, preferably re-using the same images many times on the same page, so they only need loading once. This is especially important with a blog, since all pages are the same and many people read them - it gets slow and heavy...

and so, i wouldnt recommend photoshop slicing tool - since that simple forces an image in to tables - and makes it VERY difficult to achieve repeating vertical designs.

just a tip from my own experience :D

Very much appreciated for the tips and suggestions. I suppose I may be getting myself in over my head, however, this is a competition, so if I can make it smooth and efficient...it might just pay off.

Of course, I may put a lot of time into it and fail. Nevertheless, I'm getting the feedback I was looking for, so thank you. :)

That depends on how you use it ;)

I obtained the sliced images and postioned them in layers using CSS. Requires more planning in the process though

Good luck cldnails :)

Definitely worth submitting an entry for! There are quite a lot of viable ways I can think of for this design that don't requre too much coding; it's getting it to work across the different browsers that will give you the headache. Looking forward to your submission!
