Some questions...

Postby ysva » Fri Dec 30, 2005 5:12 pm

Will the Nucleus Skin Contest also have categories in how well it's put together instead of online the visual things? So, that all the skinfiles will have a look taken at and the person with the most "complicated" or "ingenious" skin will get a price too?

By ingeniousy you might also take a look at the use of flash in a skin (Nucleus Variables used in flash), or a skin in which you can change the colours/images manually so well that it seems as if you get a new skin every time, or other thingswhichI'mnotgoingtosaytokeepfuninthecontest?
the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

I think ingenious use of lesser known Nucleus features will be appreciated. The design is the most important, though. ;)

shame, I think people should get a price if their skin is increadibly complicated but looks great but has extremely much options etc....kinda hard to explain

I totally agree with that

ik kreeg alleen plotseling een gedachte aan Ter land, Ter Zee en in de Lucht en daar heb je ook zo'n inovativiteitsprijs :P

If you look carefully at the contest structure, this is already included. Check out Most Accessible and Most Elegant categories.

I disagree with awarding people for "complicated" skins as Nucleus is about simplicity and ease of use. It is very hard for users to learn how to use a poorly documented and complicated skin. Unless by complicated you mean has lots of features, then I agree with you there.

Ingenious stuff like extra features and styling for plugins is covered in the best overall design category (see http://skins.nucleuscms.org/contest/index.php?itemid=74#ABOD).

haha, maar dan moet de hoofdprijs gaan naar diegene die het eerst zijn skin af heeft, hehe.

Probably not, as long as it validates.
Please update any "ported by Armon Toubman" links to http://www.armontoubman.com Thanks!

I confirm on this. It should not matter which doctype you use as long as it validates.

Is it peermit to include 'hacked' nucleus files into skin?

I need it to pass validator without warnings:
in nucleus used "<br />" tag, but I use html 4.01 specification, and I get message, that <br /> it is not right tag variant...

Try validating it as xhtml transitional, maybe that is easier for you

But I don't want to use xhtml (I must to edit whole source code, to pass xhml validation)

And I have no errors in html 4.01, only warnings...

well if the problems are in the core it isn't your fault, so your skin is ok then :)

You may want to make a note of this in your help file that you include along with your skin so we know when judging takes place. :D
