Hi

I ended up have to go to the Apache access log to search for IP address to block as some spam have no keyword that I can block.....

Good idea, added to my tasklist. Will be implemented in next version.

admun wrote:BTW, Have you see a new plugin called NP_SpamGuardian? I am wondering if we can put in some infrastucture to use this plugin to authenicate commenters.... it works kind of like NP_Captha.

NP_SpamGuardian has great idea. I looked into its source and it doesn't seem it has any support for cross plugin cooperation. It would be great if it provide api similar to one NP_Captcha has.
Another way can be emulation of events FormExtra and ValidateForm. I'll think about it.

BTW: I have a lot of work now so new version of NP_MiniForum must wait some time. But actual plugin source is in svn repository on http://nucleus-plugins.org/dev. It should work but can contains bugs and so on.

I don't have any time to work on NP_MiniForum now. I must finish a lot if work until end of May... But maybe next month I'll continue the work new version and I can implement this feature too.

What do you think of adding admin Team like for the normal blogs? I would really like this option!

I want to keep NP_MiniForum simple (i don't want to susbtitute full featured forums like PhpBB or PunBB) and I'm starting to afraid that there's too much features in my tasklist today. So adding another one doesn't look so good. But thank you for feedback, I'll think about it but I can't promise anything ;)

BBCode in the MiniForum

Postby Dark Wraith » Tue Sep 05, 2006 2:28 pm

I've run into two problems with my MiniForum. The second problem more or less overwhelmed (or at least rendered moot) the first problem.

First problem first. When the first commenters were posting, they seemed to be more or less successful at getting BBC to render mark-up properly when the comments were posted, except for one thing: whenever a URL had a hyphen in it, the link would stop at the hyphen. This, of course, made the link invalid. This happened both when the URL was being put in straight (I had enabled conversion of URLs to links) and when the URL was embedded in a BB Code tag. I tried everything: first, I tried changing the hyphen to its character code equivalent, and that didn't work because the commenting system simply renders character codes as literal text strings (a problem I've had with Simple Machines message boards I run); then I tried using double and single quotation marks (I was running out of ideas), and that of course didn't work; and finally, I even tried a solidus and a reverse solidus in front of the hypen in the URL, and that didn't work. My last try was to turn off conversion of URLs to links to see if maybe that would do the trick, but it didn't.

It's somewhere in that time frame that the entire ability of the MiniForum to read BB Code vanished. Now, all of the previous comments with BBC mark-up are showing the literal mark-up text strings. I honestly don't recall whether or not, before this happened, there was a little BB Code guide near the posting form like there is in the regular commenting system, but there was, it isn't showing now.

So, what have I done to my miniforum's ability to render BB Code mark-up? Is there a tag I might have accidentally deleted? I tried enabling the NP_Smiley plug-in on the miniforum, but that was a total fiasco that I could have avoided if I had read the documentation more carefully for that plug-in, so I deleted the skinvar, but I don't think I did anything else that might have damaged the template. I could be wrong about that, though.

All I want at this point is to return BB Code functionality to the miniforum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

:!: NP_MiniForum doesn't have ANY support for bb code.

This was error in the plugin. I have fixed it - here's fixed version. You can just upload & overwrite file NP_MiniForum.php. You don't have to reinstal the whole plugin.

I'm sure there wasn't any bb code guide :)

Good evening, pepiino. Thank you so much for responding.

Now, about that BB Code. You are correct that there never was a BB Code guide like there is under the main blog comment form. Of that I am sure: I've been doing way too many things at once to keep straight what I'm seeing where. But I am going to go to my grave swearing I did see BB Code working on the miniforum. In fact, one of the commenters wanted to know what had happened when the BB Code mark-up tags all of a sudden showed up instead of the italicization and url links that had been there before. I went in and edited the comments to try to figure out what had happened, but I finally gave up and deleted a post that was riddled with BBC. I also just went in and altered the BB Code in a post to HTML mark-up (which had been showing just the tags, themselves), and now they're working.

This leads to two possibilities, pepiino: either I've finally reached the point in my life where I'm having small strokes that are leaving me with intersecting, incomplete, and partially incorrect memories; or you made it through all of my server's layers of security and hacked into my blog and made everything work right.

Personally, I think it's the latter.

I think I'll go take some blood thinner and lie down for a while.

Thank you, pepiino.

Deleting of Posts

Postby Sabina » Sat May 26, 2007 12:53 am

Hi,

I have setup the mini forum and everything works wonderful except there is no place for deleting of posts in the admin.

Is there a way to delete only some posts in the forum?

Thanks!

Hello,

I needed this plugin to make a guestbook/miniforum on my member pages (profile pages) so I made a few changes to it. If someone is interested in it, download here http://wessite.dreamhosters.com/NP_MiniForum.php.zip

You can't use captcha I think, but you don't need it really. only members can post.
just use <%MiniForum(ShowForm)%><%MiniForum(ShowPosts)%> in the memberskin,
don't set a forum id or shortname because this is replaced internally by the id of the memberpage.

example here: http://www.bmxaction.net/member/wessite

Postby cckarman » Thu Nov 01, 2007 11:48 pm

Hi there,

Although I get the guestbook running (http://www.nietzomaareentaart.nl/gastenboek.php); I just cannot get it into my template (andreas06). I did make the gastenboek.php as indicated in the helpfile, as well as in this forum. Also made a new skin called 'gastenboek'. and changed the mainpage as indicated in the help.

Could anyone help, please! What am I doing wrong? (have seen some great examples and want that too)

Thanks!

Yes, I really would know if that's possible.
My guestbook is located at this page but when I post an comment it redirects me to the root of my website. (But there will be an javascript that will redirect the visitors to the good section)

So, how do I redirect back to the guestbook?
