Damage Done Comics - Webcomics.

Postby RealityFix » Wed Aug 25, 2010 2:55 am

Well just one so far.

Called Powered By Dice....

I'm kinda new to making sites and stuff but so far I'm happy with it. I want to get a new way to show my images but I'm not to sure what to use >.> --- I tried using the oganiser plug in but that doesn't seem to work for me. It installs but it doesn't actually do anything. ---- I decided that it was a good idea to put my complaints with my website >.>

For your images, you may want to use tables. The TinyMce plugin is a good WYSIWYG plugin that does tables easily. You might try that.

hmmm So I looked at the plug-in and I'm not to sure If I really want to use it. Although I think I will since it allows to edit html. But I was wondering if there is a plug in that allows someone to navigate images using button presses? I think It would be handy to just click the link have the image pop up and to view the next or previous one to just click "A" or "D".

Is there such a plug in? Or is there a nicer gallery in general I can use?

There are a series of plugins that make use of 3rd party javascripts for lightboxing images with navigation and thumbnailing. Take a look at NP_LightBox2, NP_GreyBox, NP_ThickBox, NP_ColorBox, and maybe others. They aren't full galleries but give decent function (navigation, display whole folder, etc...). I'd stay away from the NP_gallery plugin. It's outdated and not maintained. Maybe if you use picasa service from google, your can try out the picasa-related plugin(s).

The only problem with the lightboxes is they resize your image to fit the whole image in the screen... would probably make your comics too small to read. Your solution with the pop-up seemed to work well, but a couple suggestions, one, to make the link with a thumbnail, and two, enable the scrollbars on the pop-up.

Ya i need something that wont resize. And I'll look into enabling scroll bars. But I like using the arrow keys a bit. I find that they have good control. What I really want is a way to go through each image without clicking a link though and without resizing. And of course to make it stay on my site.

Anyone like the comic btw? Slightly funny maybe? DnD oriented but hey.

that's fine :P

It targets a more specific audience so I can't expect every single person to get it or find it funny.

Still need to find a good picture viewer. If anyone used to read on websites like Onemanga where you can navigate with keyboard buttons that would be great. I wouldn't mind having that system in the pop up.

Hi! I'm using the Ordered plug-in and it's not working >.> I just want certain categories from showing on the main page. Is there a way to manually do this?

As for NP_Ordered, I suspect you set some categories to not show on the main page using the Ordered admin page. But you didn't modify the Main Index page of the skin to replace the blog skinvar with the Ordered skinvar.

Code: Select all

<%Ordered(blog,none,default/index,10)%>
in place of

Code: Select all

<%blog(default/index,10)%>

Oh thanks! I didn't see that anywhere on the plug-in page. I new other plug-ins did it but I didn't see any of that code... I could be blind though. So hey.

--- Just did it! Thanks. That helps with organization a lot.

So anyone like my design I made? It's a fairly well organized blog now :P

My eventual goal is to make it look more like a website then a blog. It's sorta there.

I like the design, it's clean and somewhat minimal, without being too minimal.

Thanks, I'm a bit lazy at making it look really fancy. My only goal at the moment is coming up with a new menu. Otherwise I like it.
